13th Annual General Meeting of the
Association of International Banks Cyprus
The 13th Annual General Meeting of the Association of International Banks in Cyprus took place on Friday December 11th 2015 at the Amathus Beach Hotel in Limassol.
The Minister of Finance, Mr Haris Georgiades, honoured the AGM with his presence. In his address, Mr. Harris Georgiades applauded the Association of International Banks for its constructive role in the Cyprus economy and thanked its members for the trust they have placed in Cyprus. The AGM was also honoured with the presence of the Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus, Mrs Chrystalla Georkatzi, representatives of the diplomatic corps, Members of Parliament and the Financial Ombudsman.
In his speech, Dr. Kirill Zimarin, President of the Association of International Banks in Cyprus underlined the multifaceted work conducted by the Association over the past year and noted that “The Association has established itself as a credible and constructive professional body not only in Cyprus but also abroad. It is active in promoting the interests of its members and the Cypriot banking sector at European and International level”. Dr. Zimarin concluded by stressing that: “In order to further increase the investment attractiveness of Cyprus, the issue of NPLs must be resolved. This will enable for the development of new perspectives for the Cypriot banking sector”.

The Association of International Banks was set up in Limassol in 2002, with the aim of representing and protecting the interests of international banks in Cyprus. Since its inception, the Association has played a leading role with regards to issues affecting or otherwise impacting upon the international banking sector. The Association brings together 24 banks.
